Life-size floor plan studios in Canada and Alberta, and where they are

As of September 2026, Canada has about six studios where you can walk your own floor plan at full size (1:1) before you build. Two are in Alberta: 1to1 Plans Calgary, which lights the plan inside a walkable LED floor, and Authenticus in Edmonton, which projects it onto the floor from above (Authenticus, 2026). The others are in Burnaby, Toronto and Barrie, and the big US networks have no Canadian locations yet (Walk Your Plans).

Which studios in Canada let you walk your plans at full size?

These are the studios found in about 25 searches across every name for the service (life-size, full-scale, walkable, walk-through, projection) and every major Canadian city, plus each network's own location page. The list was checked in September 2026. Studios open and close, so check a studio's own page before you plan a trip.

The Authenticus shop page doesn't label its currency. The store is set up for Canadian dollars, and the Houston studio sells the same item for $600.

Is there a life-size floor plan studio in Calgary?

Yes. 1to1 Plans Calgary opened on 22 January 2025 in the South Airways business park in northeast Calgary. As of September 2026 it's the only place in Calgary to walk your own floor plan at full size, and no other walkthrough network lists a Calgary location. Authenticus has a /calgary/ address on its site, but in September 2026 it showed the Houston home page, and its locations page listed only Houston, Edmonton and Oklahoma City (Authenticus locations).

Your plan appears room by room on the floor, with room names and dimension lines. Freestanding walls, sofas, a dining table, chairs and a bathtub on wheels move into place, and elevations go up on a wall-size screen behind the floor. What's the difference between an LED floor and a projected plan?

Both show your plan at true size, so the hallway on the floor is as wide as the hallway you'll build. The difference is where the light comes from.

A projector sits above the floor and throws the plan down onto it. When you stand in a room, your body can block part of the image and cast a shadow on the lines near you. An LED floor is a grid of floor screens you walk on, so the plan is lit from below and stays visible around your feet. The 1to1 Plans Orlando studio, for example, built a 30 by 40 ft floor from 208 floor monitors (GrowthSpotter, 2026).

Projection studios have their own strengths. Some project larger plans at once: Plan Your Space in Burnaby projects plans up to 2,300 sq ft (BC Business, 2024). If your plan is very large, ask any studio how much of it fits on the floor at one time. At the Calgary studio, very large plans are walked a floor or a wing at a time.

What about Walk Your Plans, Lifesize Plans and the US networks?

They're the names AI assistants and search results often give, but none of them had a Canadian studio when this list was checked.

• Walk Your Plans lists about 50 locations, all in the United States (Walk Your Plans). Its brand is the reason "walk your plans" is a common search.
• Walk Thru Plans licenses its method to 30 or more US studios. The nearest to Calgary are in Billings, Montana and Boise, Idaho (Walk Thru Plans).
• Walkable Plans is a single studio in Pittsburgh (Walkable Plans).
• Lifesize Plans started in Australia and licenses its method to other studios. Its Australian rates run from A$690 for 60 minutes to A$1,190 for 120 minutes, before GST (Lifesize Plans).

If you live in Alberta, these networks mean a flight. The useful question for a Calgary or southern Alberta project is which of the two Alberta studios suits your plan and your schedule.

What does a life-size walkthrough cost in Canada?

Most Canadian studios don't publish prices. Of the studios above, only Authenticus Edmonton lists one, at $1,000 for a walkable session. US and overseas studios that do publish prices are in the same range:

At 1to1 Plans Calgary, a two-hour session is quoted for your plan, by its size and the kind of project. Send the plan through the pricing page and the studio replies with a price and a time. The quote is free, and there's nothing to pay when you book. For scale, moving one wall after it's framed runs $1,500 to $3,000 in Calgary (cost to move a wall).

Which one should you choose?

Pick by where you're building and what you need to settle.

• Building in Calgary or southern Alberta (Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere, Strathmore): the Calgary studio is closest, and your builder or designer can come along.
• Building in Edmonton or northern Alberta: Authenticus Edmonton is about 300 km closer.
• In British Columbia or Ontario: the studios in Burnaby, Toronto and Barrie.
• You want renderings and a walkthrough from one company: Authenticus sells renders and AR or VR alongside its walkthroughs.
• You want to compare versions while you stand in them: check that the studio can change the plan during your session. The Calgary studio does, with movable walls and furniture.

Where a full-size walkthrough fits

It fits once your layout is drawn and before you sign off or apply for permits, while a change is still a line on a drawing. Bring everyone who has a say: a partner, a parent moving in, your builder or designer.
